Courses

For once, we have something non-dance related planned. On Saturday, January 17, we will head to SmíchOFF (Křížová 6, 150 00 Praha 5-Smíchov) to climb. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. at the climbing center.

We will primarily go bouldering, but if we can agree on it, rope climbing is not out of the question.

The event is for everyone, including those who have never been to a climbing wall before. Admission is CZK 250, plus equipment can be rented. If you have a Multisport card, bring it with you. Admission is at your own risk.

The course is for everyone regardless of age and previous dance experience, or for those who are unsure of the six basic patterns and whip.

The course will teach the basic patterns of West Coast Swing and principles of leading or following which are important for couple cooperation and improvisation.

During the classes there is a rotation of partners.

WCS is danced in heelless shoes and the women usually wear pants rather than a skirt.

The course is for those who have already attended beginner classes at least once or the other West Coast Swing II course and know without any problem basic six-count patterns and the whip.

You will learn lots of new patterns, their variations and needed technique, of course. You will be able to dance with any partner of any level.

You should have completed both courses IIa and IIb. To cover these things, you should have no problem with overrotation, rock-and-go and using them in any basic patterns. At the party, you think more about how you would spice up the dance than about which pattern you remember.

We will further deepen our knowledge of more advanced variations, working with the frame and different styles of music.

The course is for those who have attended West coast swing III and West coast swing IV courses. If the course is listed as III + IV, then it should be taken at least three times. In addition, signing should be consulted with the teachers. Students should have no problem executing the patterns. They should strive for elasticity and musicality in their dance. At this level you should be able to dance well with dancers of any level.

We will further expand stockpile of patterns during the classes. However, the aim of the course is to master the technique so the emphasis is on execution and the ability to work with building-blocks rather than whole patterns.

Master class is for those of you who have already attended at least WCS III classes (i.e. at least once III + IV) and are interested in WCS technique. Do not expect any new patterns in this class.

The course will primarily focus on the technique of basic patterns, their execution and movement technique.

We invite you to the next edition of WIP (WCS Intensives Prague), this time in the spirit of Switch & Steal with Tobi and Christina.

Switch is a dance style in which partners take turns equally as leaders and followers. Stealing is about switching partners during the dance.

Program:

10:30 - 12:00: Level 2 - Secondary role introduction
12:15 - 13:15: Level 2/3 - Easy Switch
15:15 - 16:45: Level 2/3 - Stealing
17:00 - 18:00: Level 3 - Advanced Switch

Party: 20:00 - 2:00

The dance studio will be open each morning 30 minutes before the start of the workshops. Please arrive in advance.
Lessons will be held in English.

Levels:

L2 - This level is intended for those who know the basic patterns, rock`n`go and overrotation. Experience in a secondary role is not required.

If you dance in WCS Prague, then the level corresponds to the completion of both WCS IIa and WCS IIb courses.

L3 - This level is intended for those who have at least basic experience in the secondary role. This means that even in their secondary role, they can dance basic patterns, rock'n'go and overrotation, and dance at parties in both roles.

Fullpass - Fullpass is intended for experienced dancers who have no experience with the secondary role but are able to catch up quickly, or for those who are unsure of their secondary role and would like to revisit it.

Registration is possible as a couple or individually.
